The days are obviously getting shorter and the weather is changing, nights are cooler and though we are seeing some lovely sunny days the sun is shining differently!
Like us here at Mediterra Beauty Co., you may also be noticing some changes in your skin, it might feel tighter or drier than usual. Especially if you have already turned your furnace on. If you have observed that your skin and hair (though that is a different topic altogether) change with the seasons you are not wrong. Many of us notice this…and it is because the skin likes consistency. Adjusting to new environments is stressful on the skin as it acclimatizes to changes in temperature and humidity levels. As we shift from summer to fall, temperature and humidity will drop quickly, so the skin has to work harder to maintain adequate hydration as cold weather and wind take hold for the months to come. Loss of hydration impacts our skin and makes it susceptible to inflammation and irritation, not to mention dryness.
How can you take care of your skin during seasonal transitions?
- Limit time spent in the shower and don’t take very hot showers as unintuitive as that sounds
- Apply moisturizer to your body within 60 seconds of coming out of the shower and look for ingredients like glycerin, ceramides and hyaluronic acid. We highly recommend Olival’s Magical Dry Oil for face, hair and body.
